Hildy worked at the University of Virginia Medical Center for 28 years, first as the supervisor and then manager of the hospital’s main call center. During her many years of hiring, training and managing a staff of up to 20 employees, she learned the importance of creating a positive atmosphere of courtesy and mutual respect that encourages employees to do their best in delivering excellent customer service. Her work experience also includes project management, managing database software designed for call centers and co-editing an award-winning childhood injury-prevention newsletter.
Originally from New Jersey, Hildy has lived in the Charlottesville area for over 30 years. She enjoys reading, walking, meditating and singing. She has sung in the Charlottesville Women’s Choir for over 23 years and in the Charlottesville Threshold Choir for over 10 years. The Threshold Choir’s goal is to bring ease and comfort to those at the thresholds of living and dying, and sings for clients of both main hospice organizations in the Charlottesville area. Hildy feels a deep commitment to singing for those at the threshold of life, especially the elderly. Working at Care is There has given her the opportunity to expand her commitment to create moments of joy for her elderly clients and to be able to assist them in meeting whatever needs they may have.
