Care is There is thrilled to announce the release of our demonstration family website!
One of our unique services is to create a private family website for each of our clients. Until now, all of our family websites were private, and prospective clients had no way to see what a family website looks like. Now, we have a way for anyone to see a family website.
The Care is There – Demo Family Website is open to the public. It tells the story of Lillian Demo, a fictional “client” of Care is There, and her two daughters Retta and Kathy. Lillian’s Lifestyle Coordinator is Lauren Bond, who writes the reports following every “visit.”
The reports chronicle their interactions over 6 months, in which Lauren helps Lillian with issues many seniors encounter in every day life. For example:
- A hearing aid center appointment and maintaining Lillian’s hearing aids
- A specialist physician appointment
- A sudden Emergency Room visit
- and more…
Lauren Bond, the Lifestyle Coordinator in the story, is also the Director of Client Services for the Overland Park, Kansas office of Care is There. “Care Managers do so many things to assist seniors,” she says. “It’s difficult to describe how a care manager can help a client and a family in just a few words. We built these things into a story that may resonate with potential clients. We hope it will help them understand how valuable a care manager can be to a family.”
Often, the responsibility for caring for aging parents falls on one of the adult children. Not only does that family member have to provide care and coordinate everything for their parent, he or she also has to keep the entire family informed. Using a family website is a unique way Care is There assists with family communication. “The family website is an innovative way to use technology to help families communicate,” says Lauren, “and the majority of the communication is done for the family, by the Lifestyle Coordinator.”
Lauren also points out that families can use the website in a dialog with the Lifestyle Coordinator and other family members. “You’ll see in the website where “daughter” Retta enters comments on certain reports, to answer the Lifestyle Coordinator’s questions,” says Lauren. See an example of Retta’s comments on the report for March 4.
