September marked the official 20th anniversary of Care is There. To celebrate, we gathered together with friends, family, clients, and colleagues, celebrating 20 years of caring.
Two decades is a long time in any business. But in geriatric care management, 20 years represents something even more meaningful. It represents 20 years of relationships, trust, advocacy, problem-solving, and showing up for older adults and their families when they needed us most.
Care is There began with a simple but powerful idea: to create a joyful, supportive, and encouraging environment where every team member, community partner, client, and loved one knows themselves to be a miracle worker. Over these 20 years, that idea has grown into a company—but, more importantly, it has grown into a community of people who care and create miracles every day.
What Care is There Means to Me
When I think about the past 20 years, I don’t primarily think about the number of clients we’ve served or the number of hours we’ve worked. I think about the people.
I think about the daughter who could finally enjoy a vacation because she knew someone would be checking on her mother.
I think about the older adult who was able to remain independent a little longer because the right support was put in place.
I think about the families who were overwhelmed and didn’t know where to turn—and found someone willing to say: “We’re here. We’re listening to you. Let’s figure this out together.”
That is what Care is There means to me.
Recognizing the People Who Made Care is There Possible
During our celebration earlier this month, we took the time to recognize the many people who have made this journey possible—our incredible team, our clients and their families, our community partners and colleagues, and especially the person whose vision started it all: Elizabeth Swider.
Elizabeth, we celebrate you. Thank you for having the courage to start something new 20 years ago and for believing that care management could make a meaningful difference. Elizabeth created an organization that has become an important resource for older adults, families, and our community. Her legacy is one we are honored to continue.
To everyone who has been a part of the Care is There journey over the past two decades: Thank you. Whether you have been with us from the beginning or joined us recently, you helped shape who we are today.
It Began with a Vision
20 years ago, Care is There began with a vision: to help older adults remain as independent as possible while providing families with the support, guidance, and peace of mind they need—and to create miracles in the lives of older adults and their families.
That vision still guides us today.
We have been invited into people’s lives during some of their happiest moments, their most challenging moments, and everything in between.
We have celebrated successes, navigated crises, solved problems, and sometimes, simply been there to listen.
And that is really what our name means.
Care is There.
We are there when a family doesn’t know what to do next.
We are there when an older adult needs an advocate.
We are there when a situation becomes complicated.
We are there to coordinate, to communicate, to problem-solve—and, most importantly, to care.
As we celebrate 20 years, I’m reminded that our greatest accomplishment isn’t simply that we’ve been in business for two decades.
Our greatest accomplishment is the difference we’ve made in people’s lives.
