Do you know where your elderly loved one’s medical information is, or how accessible it would be to an EMT or other personnel during a medical emergency?  More and more long distance care givers have this dilema.
The File of Life is a program developed to remove this concern. It was developed by TRIAD as a method of providing medical facts in a discreet but accessible manner, and it is also free!
All you have to do is fill out the blank medical card in pencil with your name, your medical history, your prescription information, and emergency contact numbers, and place this card in a magnetic pocket to be placed on your refrigerator. Then, attach the decal to your front door or window to create awareness of your File of Life for emergency personnel. Be sure to keep your medical card up to date with new information or prescriptions.

To receive more information about your free File of Life kit, contact your local police or sheriff’s office.  In Charlottesville/Albemarle, call the Albemarle County Sherrif’s Department at (434) 972-4001 and ask for Triad volunteer Jim O’Kelley.
