Anyone who has spent time in the Emergency Room knows how miserable it can be, just sitting and waiting for test results, medication or to speak with a Doctor while in pain. The wait seems endless and time crawls by slowly.
This is exactly what Care is There Executive Assistant, Becky Wszalek, helped her client Samantha* deal with recently. Samantha’s family couldn’t go with her to the hospital when she was feeling unwell, so Becky stepped in and made the trip to the ER a real occasion to remember–with a Spa Day!
Instead of simply watching TV with Samantha while they waited, Becky decided to make the trip into a “Spa Day”. She whipped out a bottle of nail polish and gave Samantha a manicure until the doctor arrived. Afterwards, while they waited for test results, Becky pulled up some of Samantha’s favorite songs on her phone and they enjoyed an in-room Dance Party.
What could have seemed like an endless wait to get the results passed quickly as Becky gave her something positive to focus on instead. Samantha, who isn’t a fan of hospitals, returned home and told her family about how much fun she had during her “Spa Day”.
