When Sue had “cabin fever,” her Executive Assistant knew just what to do! Sue loves her apartment in an independent living community, but was starting to feel cooped up being inside so much due to the winter weather.
“I need some nature!” Sue confided to Carol Coiner, her Executive Assistant from Care is There. Carol knew just what to do and sprang into action.
Carol and Sue bundled up and went for a walk in the park. They enjoyed the sun on their faces and spent some quality time at the duck pond. Sue hand fed the ducks and swans, who call the park home, and played peekaboo with a crane as they were buying food for the ducks.
Sue loved the opportunity to be outside for a while and breathe the fresh air. As they walked around, Sue gathered pinecones and duck feathers to take home with her. She took them home and arranged them beside her living room chair to remind herself of the fun she had with Carol. Those little mementoes also remind her that, although winter feels like it goes on forever, spring — and more opportunities to be out in nature — is just around the corner.
