Sometimes all you need is a helping hand – whether it’s to ensure your grandmother has taken her pills on time, or getting your elderly father to and from the doctor’s office. That’s where Home Helpers can… well, help. A non-medical and companionship service, Home Helpers serves Central Virginia. The Charlottesville Home Helpers is owned and operated by Karen McConville, a Crozet resident with a passion for ensuring that our elderly parents and loved ones receive the best care possible.
Karen strives to ensure that only the best caregivers work with her clients. She screens applicants thoroughly and appreciates caregivers who are experienced with specialty care, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Hospice care. Karen’s caregivers are people she would trust with her own loved ones.
Karen’s Home Helpers specialize in non-medical client transportation. Her caregivers will pick up your grandfather and take him to the doctors and on errands throughout the day, allowing your visit in the evening to be free of the running around.
In addition to in-home companion care, Home Helpers has a partnership with Direct Link. A medical alert system monitored at all times by the Certified Care Center, Direct Link has helped enable seniors to live independently at home for as long as safely possible. Their state-of-the-art sensor will notify their staff if your loved one is having erratic or unusual symptoms, if they’ve fallen and are unable to move, or if they’re in trouble. The team at the Certified Care Center will notify the emergency contact, the doctor or emergency services, depending on the severity of the alert. Their quick response time will help ensure that benign accidents will remain harmless.
