Marci holds a master’s degree in Wellness Management & Gerontology from Ball State University’s Fisher Institute for Wellness & Gerontology and a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Virginia Tech University. She is also a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA).
Marci’s career in public and community health has spanned nearly 25 years. She truly enjoys helping people become clear about their Medicare and related health benefits, and helping people find the best health care resources around. She teaches short-courses at Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) and the University of Virginia School of Continuing & Professional Studies on Medicare & More: Navigating Senior Health Programs. She is also a consultant with Applied Policy in Washington DC, providing health policy consulting and written expertise to companies and health care agencies.
Her experience includes seven years with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) managing a pilot program for chronically ill Medicare beneficiaries, analyzing Medicare policy and legislation, and writing sections of the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003; and two years managing the Jefferson Area Board for Aging’s senior center program. Her stint at CMS gave her access to contacts and resources that help her find answers to all questions and problems; she serves as your personal research staff and does the legwork for you.
