Shepherd’s Center Central is a community center in Kansas City that is dedicated to helping locals aged 50 and over continue living an engaged and independent life. Their main goal is to help the community; they educate local seniors on ways to stay involved in the community in their daily lives and teach others how they can help keep their elderly loved ones active.
Shepherd’s Central Center offers a wide variety of programs and services to accomplish this goal. These include: Adventures in Learning – educational classes; Meals on Wheels – hot, nutritious meals delivered to homebound residents; Wheels that Care – volunteer transportation for homebound residents; Coming of Age Programs – promoting civic involvement in the 50 and over population; Medicare Counseling – helping individuals and families navigate the Medicare system; Senior Companion Programs – training seniors in the community on how to be a senior companion to those older than themselves; and more.
In addition to their services and programs catered to helping residents live fulfilling lives, Shepherd’s Center Central also has a HomeSharing program dedicated to helping connect people looking for low-cost housing with aging residents who have a room to spare.
