Specialty Housekeeping – cleaning service for seniors

It seems like such a simple thing – cleaning – but as we age, it is a physically challenging, often risky task.  A dirty environment can be very discouraging to live in and often leads to clutter and a sense of hopelessness.  Enter Specialty Housekeeping, LLC.

Created in 2005 by Nancy Alexander, Specialty Housekeeping offers detail oriented; customer designed cleaning services throughout Central Virginia.  No cookie cutter cleaning here, Nancy and her team are dedicated to working with home owners to create a cleaning program for each individual’s specific needs.  From reorganizing the kitchen cabinets to doing laundry and ironing, Specialty Housekeeping is designed to bring their customers the services they need for a clean, happy environment.

Nancy’s first summer job in 1971 was cleaning a neighbor’s house.  Her career in historic preservation and downtown development speaks volumes about her meticulous care for the upkeep of a home; it is also what brought her to Orange to manage the Orange Downtown Alliance in 1992.  She was offered the opportunity to manage an historic estate and its 4 acres of gardens in 1994 and it was there that the idea of a specialized cleaning service was born.  When the property was sold, Nancy switched careers again to become the Executive Director of the Montpelier Steeplechase and Equestrian Foundation and Special Events Director for James Madison’s Montpelier.  After organizing seven successful races, and countless Montpelier events, it was time to develop that entrepreneurial side that first appeared in 1971!

Specialty Housekeeping is dedicated to working with seniors to meet the very specific needs of each person.  From a one-time cleaning to weekly or monthly service, the team at Specialty Housekeeping is ready to help make time at home stress-free!
