Choosing a Continuing Care Retirement Community can be difficult for yourself, your elderly loved one and your family. You want your parent or grandparent to enjoy the same liberty and freedom that they have in their own home; but they also need help with the housekeeping and home maintenance. Selecting the community that will see to your loved one’s needs without removing their independence would be so much easier if your loved one could “test out” the community before jumping in with both feet.
Well, you can.
The Colonnades, a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, has a “Try Us Out” Program where qualifying seniors can stay in a furnished independent living apartment or cottage (based on availability) for 30 days without further commitment. They open up the community to you, allowing you to meet and mingle with neighbors, eat all your meals in the dining room, swim in the heated pool, have drinks at the cocktail lounge or join in a game of bocce.
As a Continuing Care Retirement Community, The Colonnades also provides Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitative Care, Memory Care and Long-term Nursing Care.

The trial period, including three full meals a day, is available for $3,000 per month (single) or $3,500 per month (couple). In order to participate in the “Try Us Out Program,” your loved ones must meet the requirements for living in the community. For more details, contact them at (434) 963-4198.
